Stacy Sommer has been named the new executive director of the Crawfordsville-Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce. She began this new position on April 4. Stacy most recently served as the communication specialist and human resources generalist for Tipmont Wintek, a north-central Indiana rural-electric cooperative and broadband utility whose service area includes portions of Montgomery County. She has also worked at LSC Communications/Lakeside Book Company as a print product account specialist managing client relations for key accounts and, later, as a human resource generalist. For more than 20 years, she has provided part-time Spanish interpretation for the Montgomery County Courts, Crawfordsville Police Department and the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department. She also previously provided Spanish interpretation for Athens Medical Group and St. Franciscan Hospital in Crawfordsville. A nationally certified fitness instructor, she also has led community group-fitness classes for over 20 years. Stacy holds a bachelor’s degree from Purdue University with a double major in public relations and Spanish and has achieved the Bridging the Gap Medical Interpreter Certification and Aerobics and Fitness Foundation of America certification. She lives in Crawfordsville with her partner, Aaron Morgan. Their blended family includes Nick Sommer and fiance, Sarah Campbell, Abby and Andrew Walden, Jack Sommer, Evan and Kelszie Morgan, Ethan and Samantha Lawrence. They have three grandchildren and one on the way. Some of her favorite things to do in the county include going to outdoor concerts at Pike Place, jogging and biking on the Sugar Creek Trail with friends and dining at local restaurants.
